Doing something different can sometimes be a lot of fun, and this year the State Master Councilor thought everyone would enjoy taking a nostalgic trip back in time to the era "between the wars," otherwise known as the roaring twenties, and the swing era.

SMC Chris Eells takes State Sweetheart Ginnie Poorbaugh for a "swing!"

Just as the "Redneck Experience" had a live country and western band last year, the music for Spring Swing was provided by a live jazz band.

Everybody was invited to wear clothing characteristic of the big band era. State Junior Councilor Michael Griggers was appropriately attired and strikes a pose with Khrystle Rader.

Past State Sweetheart Jodie Bennett is a great fan of swing dancing and arranged to have three instructors from a group she dances with at college to donate their time to give everyone lessons on the dance style.

"Line up everybody ... on the beat ... and a 1, 2, 3 ...." The instructors were very skilled and patient...

...and they were great dancers. Everyone was pea green with envy and played close attention to the master dancers.

The State Parents Club outdid themselves and laid out a wonderful spread (no pun intended).

Mmmmmm .... does that look delicious or what???

"Let's swing!"

The couples get right into the "swing" of things.
