Congress Session 2005 Photos

It doesn't get much bigger in DeMolay than to attend the International Congress.

Chris' girlfriend Miss Megan Cook, Junior Past Miss International Job's Daughter from
Boise, Idaho, was also in attendance.

Chris made history on Friday, June 17, 2005, when for the first time there was a joint
session of the DeMolay Congress, which is made up of active DeMolays and the International Supreme
Council, which is made up of Advisors who are active members. Normally the ISC handles the business
end of running DeMolay and the Congress handles the fraternal end. Over the years many DeMolays and
Advisors had been striving for a better means of communication between the two groups. In August of
last year, Chris proposed a joint meeting between the ISC and Congress to the Board of Directors for
DeMolay International. Chris specifically wanted an opportunity for the DeMolays to express their
views on changes being considered to the DeMolay International Bylaws, Rules, and Regulations.

The Board unanimously embraced the concept and on Friday, June 17, 2005, Grand Master
Greg Kimberling and Chris Eells, IMC, convened the first joint session in the history of DeMolay! The
joint session was well received and Chris and his fellow DeMolays received a standing ovation for
their excellent presentation before the joint session. One of the proposals approved is a new policy
that non-Masonic advisors can now serve as Chapter Dads.

Guillermo Gonzalez, ICS, makes his farewell speech at the George Newberry Luncheon and thanks
everyone that contributed to his success. Dad Newberry was the advisor responsible for the creation of the
DeMolay Congress. While living, he was a strong advocate for the young men of DeMolay taking an active role
in governing their fraternity. Dad Tom Moberly, Executive Director for the jurisdiction of Northern California,
delivered a speech reflecting on the career and accomplishments of Dad George Newberry and remarked that
Dad Newberry would have supported the Joint Meeting. Dad Moberly commented that "it was exactly this
kind of thinking outside the box and thinking big that Dad Newberry advocated."

In his final remarks as IMC, Chris thanked his Georgia Delegation for their continued
support and awarded Honorary International Master Councilor certificates to his parents, Dad Larry
Griggers, Mom Debbie Griggers, Richie Eells, and the members and advisors of Mountain Park Chapter.

Dad Griggers, who served as Chris' State Chapter Dad during his term as State Master
Councilor, said, "Mark my words, we are going to see more of this outstanding young man on the
world stage."
