Conclave 2006 PhotosPhoto Album Credits Back to Event Index Page | Next Page After trying out several locations across the state, Conclave 2006 saw a return to the beautiful Oxford Campus near Covington, Georgia, a favorite among the DeMolays and their guests.
No, the building and monument are not leaning, that's the effect of the wide angle lens!
The excitement of seeing old friends begins at registration. Who's here? Where's John? Has Cecil Cheves arrived yet? Conclave is the premier event of DeMolay and it just doesn't seem right if there is anyone missing.
Kyle Corwin announces, "Don R. Roberts Chapter present and accounted for!"
And what would Conclave be without the advisors, parents, Rainbows and special guests? We go out of our way to make our visitors feel welcome. Richie makes Samantha feel right at home. We're not sure what Dad Eells is doing in the background, however. Making shadow figures on the wall?
Everybody is giving each other the high-five's, handshakes, hugs, and ...... high-chests? That's no optical illusion folks, the top of Todd and Ryan's heads are about eight feet from the floor as the two skyscrapers are caught in mid-air during their greeting!
"I forgot to pre-register!", "I didn't bring the balance I owe!", "Dad Williams has my paperwork!", "I need to swap my registration with Bob, who can't make it!" Dad Frank Stephens has heard every excuse in the book over the years he has faithfully manned the registration desk.
Now it is hurry up and wait on everyone to arrive, register, get their keys and wristbands, and catch up on old times. Dorian Ivie, a Charter Member of the new Peachtree City DeMolay Pilot Chapter gets out his laptop to work on his Chapter's entry into the State Master Councilor's Movie competition.
Who will have the best scrapbook this year? The scrapbooks document all the things that the Chapters did in the past year and are typically prepared by the Parents Clubs. The competition gets real fierce and when these ladies look at another Chapter's scrapbook we suspect that they are often just "borrowing" ideas for next year's bout!
There is a lot of talent in Georgia DeMolay. David Wellman of Samuel S. Lawrence Chapter is not only an accomplished guitarists, he is also a singer and piano player!
State Master Councilor Michael Griggers gathers up his State Officers for an "official" planning session to tie up all the loose ends and make sure everyone knows what their "roles" are. He has adopted a Hollywood theme for this year's Conclave and there are lots of fun events planned.
