Beach Weekend is such a popular and well attended event that it is commonly thought of as a state event, but that just attests to the great job Cecil Cheves Chapter in Savannah does of making everyone feel welcome.

You take 30 or so guys from all across Georgia and you have the ingredients for a fun time. There were DeMolays from Cecil Cheves, Clayton, Middle Georgia, Mountain Park and Samuel S. Lawrence Chapters represented this year at this fun event.

Most everyone arrives late Friday night, some in the wee hours, and of course no one can go to bed with all the excitement of seeing old friends again. Saturday morning, however, arrives way too early after a long Friday night of frolicking and Mike looks like he is not quite awake yet!

The guys from Clayton are already talking about their plans for the Stalker game after dark (teenage no-holds-barred game of hide-and-go-seek).

First place everyone wants to go is out to the peer to see what has changed since last year. The marshes seem to be the same and that is comforting to the veterans ... it's like coming home again.

For some it is a new experience, however, and they explore every nook and cranny. Andrew Bohn is a candidate and has come to Beach Weekend for both the fun and to be initiated into the Order of DeMolay.

Beach Weekend is laid back and is purely a "fun event". There is no set schedule and both the advisors and the guys can relax and just enjoy each other's company.

James O'Neal finds the marshes very peaceful.

Great fishermen are often born at this event. Ben Pierce shows off his skill as a master fisher! Excellent specimen for mounting, Ben!

Poor Dad Griggers, he dropped his Jornada PDA and had to resort to an old fashioned but highly reliable paper palm.

Dad Bohn, the state Executive Officer, makes his first trip to Beach Weekend and has a blast!

Well, ok, we take care of a little business. A DeMolay Chapter is opened to get ready for initiating the new candidate.
