Top Ritualists Named at Tournament of Champions
ATLANTA, GA - Georgia DeMolay held its annual Tournament of Champions to determine the best individuals and chapters in proficiency of the
ceremonies of DeMolay. Mountain Park Chapter won the Chapter Proficiency competition for the tenth time and an unprecedented fifth time in a row.
Other notable results include Richard Eells and Todd Stovall of Mountain Park Chapter defending their title in Nine O'Clock Interpolation for the sixth
time in a row, Geoff Bard of Samuel S. Lawrence Chapter defending his title in the Ceremony of Light for the sixth time in a row, and the team of
Peachtree City and Samuel S. Lawrence Chapters winning the Initiatory Degree competition which had not been successfully contested in over ten years.
Peachtree City and Samuel S. Lawrence Chapters also won the DeMolay Degree 1st/3rd Sections competition and Mountain Park Chapter won the DeMolay
Degree 4th Section competition. The coveted Rookie of the Year ended in a tie this year, with Alex Starr of Clayton Chapter and Alan Moore of Mountain
Park Chapters taking top honors.
Dad Jim Bard, who served as Director of State Events for eight years, announced his retirement from that position. An often difficult and thankless
behind-the-scenes job, the Director of Events position was filled successfully by Dad Bard planning and carrying out numerous Conclaves, Spring Jams,
Holiday Formals, and TOCs, among many other state events over the past eight years. Executive Officer Marc Bohn announced Dad Hugh D'Anna of Cecil
Cheves Chapter as the successor to the Director of Events position.
