Rufus R. White Chapter Celebrates Christmas with Community Service
ROCKY FACE, GA - On December 16, five members of the Rufus R White Chapter; Aaron Godfrey, Will Day, Damon Waters, Taylor Wilson, and William Cornette; along with advisors Nathan McClure and Scott Waters visited two seniors in the area both of whom were recently a widow and widower. They first visited Mrs. Quarles whose husband was a past Master Mason of Gordon Springs Lodge. They presented Mrs. Quarles with some Christmas gifts and sang some Christmas Carols at her request. The boys and Mrs. Quarles enjoyed the singing and talking that followed, along with some advice from her.
Next, the boys visited Mr. Poteet. The boys enjoyed several stories as told through the former Corporal Poteet who had served in the US Army as a member of the 4th division 4th Recon Squad during World War II. One of the many memorable stories were Cpl Poteet being credited as the third man to cross the Rhine River at the fall of Paris during the War. After the rare treat of hearing of World War II first-hand, the boys presented Mr. Poteet with some Christmas Gifts. The boys thanked Mr. Poteet for his sharing of some of his memories.
After the visitation The boys, along with their familes, had their Christmas party and dinner where Chairman Nathan McClure presented Damon Waters a pin recognizing him as the first Past Master Councilor of Rufus R. White Chapter.
