GA DeMolay Rings in the New Year with a Bash!
SAVANNAH, GA - The 2nd Annual New Years Eve Lock-In was held at the Savannah Scottish Rite Center on December 31. The Savannah Scottish Rite building is one of the older buildings in Savannah. It is in the historic district of Savannah on one of the city's squares. The building itself has five floors, making it the perfect place for a Lock-In. The event started in Atlanta at the Atlanta Masonic Center with guys from Samuel S. Lawrence, Peachtree City, Mountain Park, Clayton, and Currahee Chapters all getting together to ride down in fifteen-passenger vans. All DeMolays, Rainbows, and Parents spent time together counting down to the New Year. Both Degrees of DeMolay were conferred on three young men total. The events started with a ghost tour of Savannah. The tour took attendees on around historic Savannah while talking about the history of the city. There were video games and cards games played until 4:00 am on New Years day. Sixty DeMolays, Rainbows, Advisors, and friends were in attendance. State Senior Deacon Jacob Somers said, "That tour was great, and I noticed everyone seemed to enjoy it." On the morning of the 1st, the winners of the prize drawing were announced. First place ($300 prize) went to Peachtree City's Hunter Sullivan, Second place ($200 prize) went to Samuel S. Lawrence's Peter Bard, and Third place (mini scooter bike) went to Mountain Park's Donny Robertson. After finishing 2008 on a strong note, Georgia DeMolay also started 2009 the same way. This year's membership program was announced: "More DeMolays in More Places."

Sparkling grape juice is poured for a New Year Toast.
