From the time Jeremy was initiated into DeMolay at Clayton Chapter in Ellenwood, he was a hard worker for his chapter
and the Order in general. He was one of those who could be counted on to take an active part in the events and
activities of his chapter and the state association. It was his "roll up the sleeves" attitude and his overall dedication
to DeMolay that set him on the road to being elected the leader among his brothers as State Master Councilor.
Jeremy truly enjoyed DeMolay. He embraced and practiced the seven cardinal virtues of DeMolay, especially the virtue of
Comradeship. Jeremy's term theme when he was State Master Councilor was "Brotherhood: Catch the Spirit," an example of
what he felt was the most important aspect of the Order. "He was a true and loyal friend to me and many others. When
Jeremy came into a room, everyone knew it. He always made an effort to speak to everyone and extend his hand in the
sign of welcome," said Jonathan Challen, State Marshal during Jeremy's term as State Master Councilor.
Jeremy was as gentle as he was physically big. Dad William Carver, Executive Officer during Jeremy's tenure in DeMolay,
looks back on Jeremy's days in DeMolay fondly. "He had a big smile, a hearty handshake and a kind word for everyone he met
and all of it was sincere, because that is who he was. He had a knack for putting people at ease and making each
person feel special."
Jeremy will be missed. The influence he exerted during his brief time among us will continue to make a difference
in lives far into the future. Besides being an inspiration for countless members of DeMolay over the years, he went
on to influence the lives of hundreds, possibly thousands more young people as a school teacher. His children will
grow up knowing that their father was a good man who touched far more lives than most at his age.
