Awards and Honors Abound at Conclave 2008
CARROLLTON, GA - On the weekend of July 24-27, Georgia DeMolay held its statewide convention at the University of West Georgia. This marks the return to this location for
the first time since Conclave 1992. Attendees enjoyed activities like a day at Six Flags and a shaving cream fight.
Richard W. Eells, II, of Mountain Park Chapter concluded his term as State Master Councilor, and his successor, Todd A. Stovall, also of Mountain Park
Chapter, was elected and installed as the 2008-2009 State Master Councilor. In addition, Lisa Pitchford of Samuel S. Lawrence Chapter was named the new
State Sweetheart and was crowned. Peter Bard of Samuel S. Lawrence Chapter was named the Georgia DeMolay of the Year. Dad Nathan "Skip" Mason of Peachtree
City Chapter was inducted into the Guild of the Leather Apron as Georgia DeMolay's 2008 Advisor of the Year. Peachtree City Chapter received the Gold
Chapter of Excellence Award and was also named Chapter of the Year. The 2007-2008 State Officers awarded Mountain Park Chapter the Most Improved Chapter Award.
The coveted Spirit Can, awarded for the chapter with the most enthusiasm and excitement, was given to newcomer Rufus R. White Pilot Chapter.
Peachtree City's Parents Club was awarded First Place in the Scrapbook competition. Peachtree City also took home the Traveling Gavel, given to
the chapter with the highest percentage of its membership attending, while Rufus R. White Pilot Chapter took home the Gold Brick, given to the
chapter who registered for Conclave last.
On Friday evening of Conclave, several individuals were recognized for their outstanding service to DeMolay. Chevalier, the highest honor bestowed on an active
DeMolay, was given to Peter Bard and Christopher Somers of Samuel S. Lawrence Chapter and Paul Hunt, Alex Jinks, and Donald Robertson of Mountain Park
Chapter. Dad James Bard of Samuel S. Lawrence Chapter was awarded the Cross of Honor, the highest honor given to a DeMolay Advisor. Dad Nathan "Skip" Mason
of Peachtree City Chapter was elevated to Deputy Membership in the International Supreme Council.
Hunter Sullivan of Peachtree City Chapter received both the Founder's Membership Award and the Blue Honor Key for his work recruiting over ten new members
to join DeMolay. Chris Benedetti, also of Peachtree City Chapter, earned the prestigious Past Master Councilor's Meritorious Service Award for his work
in planning executing an outstanding term as Master Councilor of his Chapter.
