Leon P. Edmondson Court of Chevaliers Hosts Grand Master's Class
ATLANTA, GA - Five young men became DeMolays at the Grand Master's
Class hosted by the Leon P. Edmondson Court of Chevaliers. The festivities
were held at the Atlanta Masonic Center on March 27. State Senior Councilor
Jackie Moody and State Chaplain Geoff Bard provided the DeMolay leadership
for the event and Dad Jim Bard, assisted by Dad Perry Bennett, provided
the adult leadership. Justin Nobles played the role of the Master Councilor
for the degrees. The DeMolay Degree was portrayed primarily by Chevaliers,
many of them Senior DeMolays, with help in supporting roles from the younger
active DeMolays. After the presentation of the degrees, DeMolay Hall of Fame
Member and DeMolay Degree participant David Goodnow drew the winning ticket
for a Nintendo Gamecube giveaway. Designed to stimulate membership recruitment
and interest in the degrees, the contest was made possible by generous donations
from Chevaliers in the Atlanta area. The winner of the drawing was Brother
Eric Scheel from Mountain Park Chapter.
State Chapter Dad Larry Griggers was ecstatic after the portrayal of the DeMolay Degree.
"This was one of the most outstanding performances of the DeMolay Degree I have
ever seen and shows how the training DeMolays get follows them into their adult lives. I
wonder how many people watching David Goodnow on CNN realize that his dramatic
presentation style was influenced by his DeMolay training. I got goose bumps
listening to him speaking in the role of the Master Inquisitor. Rusty
Newport was incredible as Jacques DeMolay. I was impressed with everyone's
delivery. Adam Fowler turned in his best ever performance as the Junior
Inquisitor, and Justin Nobles continues to marvel me with his dramatic
interpretations. There was no minor performance. Dana Schwarz's believable
portrayal of Guy of Auvergne, Chris Eells' authoritative voice as Lord
Constable, Perry Bennett's ingenious interpretation of the Marshal of the
Commission, Mike Williams' convincing portrayal as Scribe and all the
others, down to the very last guard, were excellent. These five DeMolays saw
DeMolay at its finest. Kudos to those responsible for the Initiatory Degree
and to the Court of Chevaliers for an outstanding DeMolay Degree!"
