Samuel S. Lawrence Chapter Gets Hands On
ATLANTA, GA - On October 3, five members of Samuel S. Lawrence Chapter were joined by
three members of Friendship Assembly in a community service project. The group participated
with the Hands On Atlanta organization in doing some much needed clean-up work at the historic
Oakland Cemetary in downtown Atlanta. The cemetary is the final resting place of many of
Atlanta's most prominent citizens, the most recent being former mayor Maynard Jackson. In
recent years many sections of the cemetary have fallen into disrepair because of lack of funds
in the city treasury for maintenance. It is only through volunteer efforts such as this that
much needed upkeep is performed.
